I have a project for a specialized label printer/laminator/die-cutter in the works and the supplier selected in our DA (Decision Analysis) wants to control with the PC (custom C++ app) using remote digital I/O over Ethernet. ... As best I can tell, Modbus/TCP protocol would be a wise choice, and WAGO (750series)and Modicon (Momentum) are 2 options with products I would classify as industrial.

What would be your comments on using "normal" house-wiring or non-instrumentation-grade cables for 4-20 ma links? Normally we use special shielded cables (belden 8761 for example) as recommended by PLC manufacturers, grounding one end only, etc..

i've tried converting analog audio signals to frquency so that it can be transmitted through light using LED. But the chip RC4151 seems like only converts a DC signal. anyone know of a chip that could convert analog audio signals to frquencr which could handle the high frequency and fast response time
