Shared memory / persistence / io polarity
Posted by Simon Martin on 15 January, 2000 - 10:45 am
There was the suggestion of using a memory mapped file for sharing the data between processes, and the persistence being created by periodically
updating the associated disk file, as opposed to writing a memory block to disk.

Windows NT, CLI and STI (NT and real-time)
Posted by Antoine PERRIN on 18 November, 1999 - 9:32 am
One of the problem of NT with real-time is that the system uses CLI/STI (CLear Interrupt/SeT Interrupt). Somebody say me that the kernel itself use hard-coded CLI/STI. As the kernel cannot be modified, this definitively prevent hard real-time under NT.
Can anybody confirm or invalidate this affirmation?

persistent data
Posted by Stan Brown on 14 January, 2000 - 3:46 pm
One of the basic concepts of a PLC is that the data table is retained upon program stop, whether that be manually stopping the scan, or the actual powering down of the controller. Any thoughts on how to handle this?
