PLC for balance of plant

hi

i am an engineer working for power plant project. i am using Centralised DCS system for BTG but i dont want to use dcs in BOP (Balance of Plant). and i m going to use each seperate PLC for each BOP system.

anybody suggest me which company provide best suited PLC System. which also communicate easily with My BTG's DCS system.

please any body guide me its most important to know for me.

What brand of DCS; who is the manufacturer?

Do you need to communicate between PLCs and controllers, or just between PLCs and operator stations?

Please be more specific. and where "acronyms" are used, please explain what it stands for.

For example, BOP is used in Oil & Gas Insudtry as "Blow Out Preventer" .. not known as "Balance of Plant". It seems to me that it is an internal abbreviation used in your plant.

However, please explain what "BTG" means. Also, please give as much details as you can give. The more information your provide, the more relevant help you will get from others.

It is quite normal and human for others to ignore your question if the question is somewhat vague or involoves assumptions.

When you say BTG, are you talking about Boiler-Turbine-Generator?

As suggested by others, it is essential that details be provided.

If you want your PLC system be visible to your DCS, I would suggest that you review your DCS's specification with regards to third party connections. I am sure that it has the capability to connect to other system such as PLC. From there, you can see what PLC brand is compatible with your DCS.

There are a lot of companies offering PLC systems. However, you must consider what are the BOP's requirement, i.e., number of I/O, scanning rate for the BOP process, and it's communication compatibly with your main DCS.

If I had a choice at our plant i would go with GE PAX RX3I but mainly because we have GE for our turbine control and HMI's and Open Process is like Obsolete .

guys...BTG means boiler-turbine-generator.
and BOP means Balance of plant, which include cooling tower, DM plant, Coal handling plant, ash handling plant,etc....i completed my project and we have used here OPC server for 3rd party communication.

Could you tell me something about your system. Currently, I'm also stuck with using PLCs in my Coal Fired Power Plant project. The Contractor proposed using PLCs for whole BOP system, and the BOP network is independent with DCS network. I would like to ask you as follows:

- What is your DCS supplier, which system is used?
- Does your BOP system use the only one PLC brand or PLCs of different manufactures?
- What are the difficulties that you confront when integrating PLCs into DCS network by using OPC?
