Has anyone used Alarm Notification Software packages to pick up process alarm information from the plant system and notify others remotely via phone email etc. of important changes. If so, could you give me some feedback on why you used it and what software you used..

Hi, I would normally use the SCADA package being used to monitor/control the plant. There is always away to script the SCADA to send email/sms messages on an alarm condition.

Using Matrikon Process Guard Together with Operational Insight, it was the only tool (a few years ago) that has a web-interface. We use it mainly for post mortem analysis but we also pass-on certain alarms per e-mail to system managers. E.g. DCS system alarms go to DCS-team, Machine and vibration monitoring alarms go to mechanical engineers, Electrical system alarm go to the electrical team, ...

Have used WIN911 - basic version. Will be replacing this pkg with the AEE provided by Intellution iFix 5.0 when implemented early '10.

Win911 works well with iFix and some other pkgs. The problem we have faced has been with the vendor providing the pager service, and our IS dept adding new mailhost that don't comply with our firewall requirements.

I use Wonderware for my SCADA systems and have their ScadAlarm package to go with it. It can call you, text, email, etc. It is very simple to setup and use. You can have multiple operators, each with their own working hours schedule. i.e., Jim gets called on days while John is called at night. You can input holiday schedules, etc. If you already have Wonderware, definitely the way to go.
