I am studying design of a rubber belt conveyor. I have following imformation:

Belt conveyor length: 250m
Belt width: 800mm.
Motor power: 132kW.
Motor current: 228A.

Please can someone tell me how to caculate the above motor power and current?

If someone can help me please answer me soon'cause I need this very much it is very urgent.
Thanks.

How to calculate what the motor power and current are? You have already told us what they are.

If you want to know how to calculate what they should be, that information would have to come from the conveyor manufacturer or distributor. It will depend upon the conveyor speed, the belt material, the conveyor design (is the belt sliding on the conveyor bed, or it is running on rollers), the weight and distribution of the load the conveyor is carrying, the incline of the conveyor (if any), etc.

The conveyor manufacturer will base the sizing on their years of experience, and sometimes even then they guess wrong. If you have an existing installation where the motor is tripping the overload, then try measuring the motor current at various loads (empty, half full, full, etc.). Take that information to your conveyor supplier and ask them what they think. I have seen cases where the conveyor motor ended up being too small even though the manufacturer's selection tables said that size should have been OK.

I am working with a client to adjust motor sizes on a surface mining plants. the manufacturers will always size the conveyors for maximum load per belt size and trough angles, but; when a conveyor is put into a circuit it will never see the maximum load it can carry. My client wants me to take a look at size motors to circuit load rather than max load. In doing this he will reduce his peak demand and kWh and also claim rebates for upgrading to qualified motors. Do you have a recommendation for how to access motor sizing per application and ensure that the motors chosen do not limit startup?
