Configuration Software for Rosemount Tx's

Hi there

thanks for looking at this as my first post.

I want to get one of my techs set up with a laptop and modem to enable him to configure Rosemount Hart Transmitters. I have bought him a Mactek USB to Hart modem and this communicates well, far better than the 275 and 475 communicators we were using. However it requires software loaded on the laptop to be able to configure the transmitters.

Emerson have quoted me circa £2000 Gbp around 3200 dollars for the AMS software to do this that seems a bit steep for all we are going to use it for.

Is there alternatives to AMS to configure Rosemount transmitters or do Emerson do a slimmed down software package that I can ask for at less cost.

Thanks Nick

1) Pactware uses a HART modem.
Pactware requires DTM files (not DD files) but I
think Krohne's Pactware version supports common Rosemount transmitters.

2) A single tag version of Siemens PDM software at about $100 US uses a HART modem and it supports a number of Rosemount transmitters.

Be careful though. There are some multivariable things that only the
Rosemount stuff can configure and even some of their older calibrators
can't do it.

Emerson / Rosemount now provides DTMs for many of their transmitters (which can be downloaded at no cost, I believe), see:

http://www2.emersonprocess.com/en-U...installkits/Pages/deviceinstallkitsearch.aspx

The DTMs should be capable of fully configuring the associated devices. If there are DTMs for the specific devices that you are working with, you could download them and PACTware and see if that meets your needs.

PACTware can be downloaded (at no cost) from a number of device manufacturers, and is usually bundled with a HART Communication DTM that works with the MacTek HART modem that you already have. (Some of them are listed at http://www.pactware.com/en/downloads/pactware.html).

siemens PDM is great, but want to know whether it works with modems other than mectek corp. like microflex etc.

Hello,

This too is my first post. I have purchased a Mactek (Viator) usb hart modem to use with Engineering Assistant 6.1.1 (EA).

Problem I am having is that EA doesn't see it. When I go to connect in the drop down box for com ports are the ones already in use except the one for the usb hart modem. If I assign it to 11 in device manager, EA lists 3-9. If I change it to com 1, EA still doesn't see that.

I did install the modem prior to getting Engineering Assistant. I haven't tried uninstalling it and reinstalling yet.

I really need to get this working. Any suggestions?

There is a utility that comes with the "Mactek" viator unit. I suggest running the utility first then plug in the Mactek. Then look at your computer hardware to see if the computer see it.
