Relay Coil and Its Normally Closed Contact

Assume that we have a relay. If we connect the normally closed contact of the relay with the coil of relay and then connected them to the electricity what will happen?
 
You will have re-invented the buzzer.

Do it with an old GPO (post Office) relay (24vDC) - then touch the terminals to get a hefty belt from back emf's!

True if the relay's coil is the only load. But if there is any other load on the relay, I think the contacts would melt and weld before the coil burns out...

It's a race to failure of some sort either way.

Ah Yes! That reminds me being on site many years ago....
a contactor was connected to a 37KW motor.

On switch on it chattered loudly for around 3 secs.. we couldn't stop it soon enough...
