Inverter Drive in PLC

I
Hi subhajitaich93,

Simple explanation, PLC will need AC Drive or inverter in order for them to be able to control speed and torques of AC motor by varying several parameters belong to electrical power supply to motor in control, such as frequency, current, voltage, etc.

Since PLC I/O system is typically working with voltage and current level, typically 24 V for DC or 120/220 for AC, that much lower than typically required by industrial standard AC motors that typically required at least 380 V 3 phase and current in tens ampere, we need AC Drive or you are calling inverter drive to interfacing PLC IO with AC motors.

Regarding process of recognition of PLC I/O Module and Inverter in a PLC drive, it is not clear what is your question meant here, but basically Inverter drive can be connected to PLC in 2 ways:

- Connecting to PLC I/O thru hard wired such as DI, DO, AI or AO.

- Connecting to PLC CPU thru communication channel such as Ethernet, RS485, etc.

Hope this helps you
