I have seen exhaust thermocouples open while GTG is in service and on load, most of the production companies does not want to shutdown the unit for replacing exhaust thermocouple. They parallel the open thermocouple with the good ones in Junction box in the field or in MK V control panel. The opened TC will be replaced during the shutdown.
Is this advised to do or shutdown the GTG and replace it with good one on the same day. If this is allowed which thermocouple has to be paralled (the TC which is adjacent to the open TC or exactly the diagonal TC) please can anybody explain what is the reason to parallel with TC which is in diagonal to the opened TC.
thanks in advance
