Restriction orifice

Steam blowing line is connected to two silencers which are connected to different sized pipe, 500mm2 and 300mm2 respectively. We want to make the flow the same amount to both silencers using a restriction orifice. Simply can I install a restriction orifice having inner size of 300mm2?
Please let me know the way.

Thanks in advance

Not as easy as that without knowing the pressures/ temperatures involved, but you could simply try to choke the flow at the inlet of the 500 line if there's a valve installed. Just change it out with a pitted valve or replace it later after the steam blow.

Standard Plan

A sonic or critical flow nozzle can be used for this purpose. This assumes you will have an available pressure drop of about 15-20% of the upstream pressure. On our website (http://www.inflowinc.com) we have a tech note (in the "Products" section) which discusses the device. Contact me if you would like further information.
