Short term event logging is carried out on each HIS but I assume you know that. Comprehensive alarm logging on Centum CS is best done with Yokogawa's Exaquantum software package. This runs on a server PC and gets data from the DCS via OPC.
Other OPC clents such as PI may also be able to do alarm logging.
I have not found MIF to be an effective package - Nor have I found a straightforwards method to get alarm logs from Centum CS.
I have written an Access program (many years ago) available at http://www.automated.com.au/downloads.htm
Check out Project_AlarmLog.mdb - you will likely need to modify it. You can email me for more info. Alternately, if you are running CS 2.10 - you can install a CS3000 HIS/EWS and use this to record alarm logs directly into a text format (apparently). Check this last one with your local Yokey-Jokey people.
