SCADA to PLC communication over VPN

Hi,

I am trying to communicate Cimplicity/Ifix SCADA with Remote PLCs over a secured VPN network. Protocol would be preferably Modbus TC/IP. I have the following questions.

1.What additional hardware (VPN routers/switches) might be required?

2.Is it required to dial VPN connection every time to connect to PLC?

Hi, I have done similar projects using GSM modems, look at the MOXA G3150. If you need any more info about this, let me know.
