I have a GSM RTU. This unit transmits to a fixed IP. At the fixed IP there will be another GSM modem which supports Modbus RTU and has RS485.
Assuming that I have a 232- 485 converter how could the transmitted data be displayed on a normal PC. ie what software could I use.

I am presuming that as Modbus is used then there will certain registers which will contain data.

Although you have most of your hardware setup already, I can recommend an alternative solution that will do just what you are trying to do.
