Orifice plate installation

Hi,

In a piping drawing I've gone through, there is just a clearance of about a foot from the Orifice assembly to the ground. And as far as i studied, the impulse piping for a water flow orifice should be towards the ground from the Orifice. So do I need to elevate the whole pipe line to suffice the impulse piping??

Please clarify.
Thanks in advance

that is more than enough room for a conventional installation, if the transmitter is mounted locally.

if that is not possible, then relocate the orifice meter

In two phase-fluid condition, it's necessary to install orifice in a vertical position (up direction flow).

If there is no entrained air the transmitter could be at the same elevation as tapping points (horizontal) The only reason for a slope is to allow any air to bubble back into the line, one or two inches below the line would be more than enough but keep the impulse lines short.
