PLC database, keeping track of everything

This certainly must be a problem that others have encountered. Do you make a big spreadsheet, or is there some database application that can give structure and keep track of everything.

I think about tracking PLC specifics, such as model, serial, firmware version, but also, maybe enclosure information such as Radio model, modem type.

What is the problem you are trying to solve? Do you have large quantities of installed PLCs to track?

The intro part of my posting wasn't displayed.

I have 40+ PLCs out on radio, how do you keep track of what is where, has it been upgraded to the latest firmware, etc.

I'd just use a spreadsheet. The biggest problem with that kind of thing is making sure all involved with replacements or upgrades let you know to update the document.
