We are unable to load process compressor which driven by Gas Turbine GE LM2500 due to engine compartment enclosure high temperature. this problem always appeared during summer time & when ambient temperature goes more than 40 C. we checked every thing but we couldn't find out the reason of this problem.

If any body has similar problem can help us. we notice also that when we open the compartment door cooling air pressure decrease while compartment temperature increase

We found same problem about enclosure temp high high at setpoint 95'C and trip engine. But root cause come from flow inside enclosure not balance from some body open enclosure door pressure and flow inside decreases effect with temp sensor detect HH.

For your case I thing ATM at 40'C outside it's should not effect in this case.

Please check below,

1.How many set point at your sensor 95'C or not?

2.You try to change "ENCLOSURE AC VENTILATION FAN" for test performance of its.

It is normal when for the temperature inside the compartment increases while the door is opened. Two things you need to check.

- The cleanliness of Air Filter for a compartment blower.

- Compare a compartment differential pressure for enclosure to an old log sheet may be two year back. The compartment door sealing (rubber) may be deteriorate or damage.

If you turn on a second ventilation blower, is the temperature drop below a limit. If yes, then you might have a problem with insufficient air going to turbine compartment. In this case

- Ensure the Air Filter for a blower is clean.

- If on top of air inlet to compartment is equipped with an adjustable louver (small hand-wheel), then you need to check the air flow to compartment. If air flow is lower than specified in a drawing then you have to adjust that hand-wheel.

HI,

we have had similar problems with our units. we have 3 ventilation Fans A B and C we have found certain combinations of fans provide better air circulation. A and B, B and C etc. if you do have 3 fans make sure the Fan that is not running has its dampers closed and try different cycles/combinations running them in "hand".

Clogged inlet filters can restrict flow but i guess you've already checked that.

may be worth relocating your temp sensor to a lower position if it is mounted up high as there is a big temp difference between the top and bottom of the enclosure.

best off luck.

Also check for any leakages from compressor, cooling pipes inside enclosure that can also increase the temperature

I'm sorry if my English is bad
we have the same problem ( frame 9)
they said this is happened in the GE frame 9 due to the order of the gas turbine
Auxiliary then gas turbine then load compartment then the HRSG.
but the other type of gas turbines,
gas turbine then auxiliary then load compartment
this order is not good in the hot climate
(????!!!!)

we tray to fix that
1- to close all the holes between the gas turbine and the next compartment were the exhaust thermocouples found (it helps for short time)
2-to fix that for long time they make welding the load compartment with the structure to close all the possible holes
(it was stupid solution - vibration appeared)

after that the GE send a specialist to fix that
he said
1- you can raise the runback setpoint (i forget exactly 220 C then changed to 235 C )
2- he said the problem was from the thermocouples order it's in the opposite direction from the flow of the air (????!!!!!)
3-the blower size for the design is not good (we try to take this)
4-one of the unit it has higher temperature reading in the turbine compartment and we found the reason (it was from the sealing air that went to the turbine bearing)
i don't have enough experience to write but i think this will help

Hi,

we had this problem in our site the orientation of the sump vent is to the heat detector. try to change the orientation.
