i am an aspiring engineer, i want to know everything about PID controllers.

Can someone please give me link or can directly explain me the basic terms of PID controller....
like Why Derivative cant be used alone?
what is offset error?
what does integration do in PID controller?
and all the basic terms, problems those arises etc.

please i will be thankful.
regards

The names of the terms should answer those questions for you. if you think back to Calculus class about what integrals and derivatives are.

If you're a person who learns better by experience, you can purchase an inexpensive PID temp controller, small resistive heater, and temp sensor, hook it up and watch it work with various settings for P, I, and D. Add a slug of cold water and watch what happens to the output. Try it with hotter water. Graph the temperature and output percentage over time. Try a D-only controller and SEE what it does.

dear "save us from lazy people"
I have read a lot of links from google about PID.......

but didn't find any on basics and no explanation of basic terms.
And i am very new to instrumentation field.

that is why i posted here to get some help from experts who know d details of PID.

with due respect thanks

If you want to understand you will need
math knowledge
linear systems
solving differential equations
frequency domain
stability criteria.

Even today a book might be better than the internet.
I often refer to

Our PID controller task was build according to this book. See:

I'm sure you will find something similar in english.
