Would exhaust diffuser leakage have an impact on N2 bearing vibrations? If so, why?

Searching,

Yes. Heat causes expansion, and expansion of a bearing housing can cause alignment changes, which can lead to vibration.

In the future when posting to control.com, please provide as much information as you can about the turbine and auxiliary equipment involved as you can. While this question is fairly generic in nature, it would have been nice to know more about the turbine at your site.

Providing as much information as you can in your original post--including any troubleshooting you have done, as well as the results of the troubleshooting (actionable data) will prevent respondents from asking numerous questions, and you from telling us, "We've already tried that," and being unhappy with the responses you get from control.com. The more information you can provide the better and more concise the responses you will get--and faster, too.

Welcome to control.com! If you get useful information--or even if you don't--the most important contribution anyone can make to control.com is to provide feedback about the information provided. control.com has a 'Search' feature at the right of the Menu bar at the top of every page. After you spend a minute or so reading the 'Search' Help (the context of search terms is different than most Web browsers), you can find a lot of useful information--and what makes it most useful is when you read feedback that let's you know if the information was useful to the original poster or others who have searched and found the information.

The GE-design heavy duty gas turbine controls community here at control.com has been very active for about a decade, and so quite a number of threads have been opened and answered. And, again, the most useful threads are the ones where people who have found the information provided useful--or not--have provided feedback for others to read and use when making decisions or troubleshooting or obtaining information. We like to say, "Feedback is the most important contribution!"(c) here at control.com--because it is!!!
