My name is Heba Ali and I am doing a survey on the for advantages and disadvantages of the following DCS systems.

Can you please comment on the systems listed below and compare any that you have used or are currently using.

1- ABB
2- Siemens
3- Honeywell
4- Yokogawa
5- Emerson
6- Invensys
7- Rockwell

I would like for each system the following

1- Advantages "what makes you happy from this system"
2- Disadvantages "what is major system drawbacks"

 

Emerson DeltaV version 11.31

I have used experion R311 as well. But when comparing any DCS system I would have to go with DeltaV. The supporting software that can be bundled with the DeltaV system is unmatched. AMS and insight help maintenance troubleshoot and keep any facility running at optimal levels.

With the addition of charm I/O and the new SIS SZ controller even marshaling the SIL instruments is easy. The learning curve for new DCS team members is much easier because of supporting software and the ease of field wiring because of charms.

I need more contribution to know each system disadvantages.

 

The big advantage of Rockwell in North America and Siemens in Europe is their size.

You will never have a problem finding qualified people to work on these systems.

I personally much prefer Rockwell, the Siemens stuff is getting dated.
