we have lm6000 GE gas turbine at our site. i would like to know as the enclosure door is closed the temperature is normal. but if we open the door, the temperature increases drastically. is there any one who can explain it briefly what is the reason?

 

When the doors are closed the compartment ventilation fans are doing their job.

When the doors are open, the compartment ventilation fans are not doing their job. The normal flow of air into and out of the compartment for cooling and removal of any combustible gases is interrupted.

When the doors are open, should a fire occur any extinguishing agent which might be discharged will not be contained in the enclosure.

The compartments are not meant for human ingress or occupation during turbine operation.

The doors should remain closed during turbine operation:

1) to maintain proper compartment ventilation;
2) to contain the discharge of and fire extinguishing agent;
3) to keep humans out of the compartment when the turbine is running.

 

I think LM 6000 GT compartment ventilation fans remove hot air from compartments. if u open door and outside is hot, it increase temperature.
