Has anyone sent a Message from an L7 to an SLC controller? What I was told in training and AB's manual for the MSG instruction don't match. I need to control a valve with the SLC, with an analog input that goes to the L7 rack. I could just wire it that way but the Ethernet connection is already being installed.

I do not have a L7 but this works on L6 / V16. The path is explained below. The message type will be SLC Typed Write.

Message write to LMF PLC_G, 10 words of real to F8:0.
Path is 1,5,2,10.138.230.22 where
1 = Common backplane
5 = slot # of ENBT
2 = port on ENBT
10.138.230.22 = IP address of LMF PLC_G.

Thanks Rob. That is how it was explained in training. Then I looked it up in an AB manual on msgs and it said I had to use a FAL instruction along with the MSG instruction.

 

That post by Rob is the way we did it here....still in operation....but like him....it was with an L6X.
