I'm wiring a light curtain's OSSD wires into a safety controller. This safety controller outputs to a safety relay which has dual channel EDM (back to the safety controller). Currently, the light curtain does not have EDM. Does this fall under a Category 4?

If it does not, is it okay to:

Wire the OSSD of the light curtain to a terminal strip. From there, one wire will go to the safety controller, and another wire will go to a force guided relay coil as part of the light curtain's own EDM.

 

Using the safety controller EDM is acceptable for a category 4 architecture. It is not necessary to route the EDM through the SLC as well.
