I am a fresher towards process control field and i want to know the possible reasons for using a transmitter as well as local instruments (gauges) in the process plant?

Thank you,
Shafeeq

One has wiring the other does not.

But the reality is that the transmitters can be read remotely, they are more reliable, accurate, and safe. The response time can also be much faster.

The transmitter is necessary for remote monitoring, logging, interlocks, automatic control, etc.

The mechanical gauge is good for people walking around, and to confirm the value from the transmitter, and as a partial backup if the transmitter fails.
