Bidirectional DP Flow Transmitter Configuration

We want to configure a single DP Flow transmitter to measure the bidirectional flow across the orifice. We have successfuly calibrated the transmitter as per the following

12-20mA (0-1300 T/hr flow in forward direction)
12-4mA (0-1300 T/hr flow in reverse direction)

Now comes the DCS configuration. How to configure it? It should be kept in mind that we want to apply square root characteristic to both of these flows in the DCS. Is it possible?

I assume your concern is for taking the square root of a negative number. If your DCS has an Absolute Value function, take the square root of the absolute value of the DP signal, then apply a minus sign to the result if the absolute value is greater than the measured value.
 
of course, just make sure that you are using the transmitter for measured d/p with your elevated off-set, and a symmetrical flat plate orifice

as you indicate, do all the engineering calcs in the dcs
