Bldc motor jerking at startup

We are designing bldc motor controller using dspic30F2010. When we are testing on vehicle (battery operated) we are observing jerking at initial starting condition. once vehicle is moving it was smooth. For initial smoothing purpose if we increase the pwm slowly then vehicle was not starting with full load condition (or vehicle initial torque was not sufficient). Please suggest that what type precautions we need to take for starting conditions and also suggest us the theory for this type of applications.
