I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you referring to closed loop proportional control? Are you referring to the output decreasing exponentially? This could be due to the closed loop error decreasing.

I didn't understand the question either. Maybe a damped approach to setpoint with no overshoot appears to be exponential?
