Shorten The Range Of Thermocouple

I have an assingment to measure 3 rooms' temperature, which are SIH, MCC and Battery Room. I use Thermocouple type J which range is from 0 - 780 celcius degree.

My mentor said I have to shorten the range of the sensor, in order to have a better accuracy in reading the value of sensor's output (the range is from 4-20 mA).

I'm thinking to change the thermocouple's range from 10 - 60 Celsius degree. I've read literatures about calibrating the sensor, but I'm still not sure about the process and how it will affect the sensor itself.

Please help, and thanks in advance:)

Thermocouple is for higher temp.

transmitter will give you turn down up to 10:1
( depends upon manufacturer ) but accuracy matters...

Better way go for RTD.

A t/c is not suitable for that purpose (extremely low signal), recommend that you consider using RTD or thermistor devices for low, ambient temperatures.
