The Bailey modules we have require some new NVSRAM chips. I have sourced some DALLAS chips with encapsulated batteries which appear identical (apart form an extra + denotation) but on installation I cannot initialize the modules.

Is there any special operation that is required before the module will accept the new clean NVSRAM?

Checking the archives here I came across this statement
"Remember, there is a portion of memory in the NVRAM chip that is set aside for the bios or operating system that will start up the module. When new NVRAM chips are put in for the first time, the module must be formatted to copy the bios from the firmware to this memory location in the module."

I have initialized many faulty modules successfully in the past which I believed to be the operation to wipe the NVRAM, but I'm having no luck with the replacement chips.

The lead time for supply direct from ABB is very long as they spec the newer battery cap type NVRAM
