Hello!

Hi everybody I was wondering if anyone could help me out with a personal project I have not quite figured out or am not sure I can actually accomplish. What I want to do is under certain circumstances when inputs are triggered, I want an alert to my phone from my PLC. It does not need to be multiple messages just one. I can configure in my program to accomplish that. I just need some ideas of how I can transmit this message from a remote PLC over a network to my phone.

This system uses:
Micrologics 1400 PLC:
C600 HMI
Ethernet switch

Do I need a router?
A phone App?
a cell modem?

To tell you the truth I have no idea how i can do this.

This is not in an industrial application.
I do not have access to devicenet, controlnet or any other networks other than just wireless router.

I think the 1400 has a web server and email built in.

The instruction manual should be helpful.

 

Thanks! I did not realize the messaging via SMTP. I guess I should read the manuals more. lol. Now I need to figure out how to do it.
