Dear Control community,

I am trying to learn about ladder logic programs, and I stumbled upon a AVE Average Instruction, and I have some questions about it.

Instruction consists of:

Array: tag of different arrays
Dimension to Vary: ?
Destination: output tag to store output average
Control: ?
length: number of elements in tag
Position: which element is the program addressing

Can someone explain to me what do they mean by Dimension to Vary and what is a Control tag/data type.

In general, you can select the instruction and press "F1" to open up the instruction help. This works in RSLogix and in Simatic Manager. I've found the RSLogix help to be better in general than the Simatic Manager help, but both are still useful.

I would answer in more detail, but the computer with the software is acting silly right now...
