Is it possible to polarize the bus with a 3.3V supply, instead of the recommended 5V? What is the problem with 3.3V? Did you face issues?

You can 'polarize' any bus, as you need at least 2 for any voltage supply.

Aside from that tidbit of info', you'll need to elaborate if you want a more definitive answer.
