i've designed LQR for MIMO system, i-e modeling & control of synchronous generator using LQR.
i coded it in labview. weighting entries of Q & R are tuned in labview in online iterations by simply changing the knobs of diagonal elements of Q & R in order to get desired dynamics. cost function is also computed.
What i don't understand is that what's happening practically?
On software it looks all fine.
But how practically u=-Kx+r input is going and how lqr is implemented on system practically. what is cost function physical significance?
please illustrate it with simple practical example?
