Hi all

From some relay data sheet, it shown that by connecting two relay contacts in series can increase the current breaking capacity by 50%.

How to achieve this? If 3 contacts are connected in series, will the current breaking capacity increase more?

 

Ak... your subject, double-break contacts, was covered in a May, 1999, Control.Com thread. Unfortunately it is no longer archived, so here is a synopsis:

In general an improvement can be realized! But only because of the randomness associated with which contact opens first. I know of only one manufacturer that specifically sold relays with double-break contacts! It was used heavily in Marine-Industry applications!
