Function of Diode O-Ring

i have a two 24 volt SMPS giving their individual o/p to common busbar. Also their o/p passes through 2 diode O-ring individually before coming to busbar.

what is the use of these Diode O-rings?
What will happen if i directly connect the o/p of smps to busbar?

I think what you are referring to is at pair of diodes used to isolate each power supply
PS1 --->|----|Load
PS2 --->|----|

If either power supply fails the other one takes all the load
It's quite common to see one of the potted bridge rectifiers used for this, they offer a convenient way to bolt the diodes to a heat sink, Only one pair of the diodes in the bridge is being used the other pair are redundant.

Sorry, I missed part 2

If one of the power supplies shorts out it will short the DC busbar also, you will loose the ability to keep running.

BTW you are not restricted to 2 power supplies for example you could have 3 or more
PS1 --->|---|
PS2 --->|---|--Load
PS3 --->}---|

Quite often you see a 24 VDC relay across each power supply terminals, if one supply fails the relay contact opens to trigger an alarm. Each power supply should be fed from a separate circuit.
