Generator Supplying Capacitive Load

I can under stand that supplying capacitive load by synchronous generator can cause over voltage. but what I under stand that the AVR is capable to overcome this phenomena and reduce the If which reduces E. but what I found in the generator manual that it is not recommended to operate the syn generator at leading power factor.
