I need your help folks in understanding how back up protection wiring is implemented in a distribution substation either by use of electromechanical or solid state relays.
When a fault occurs, and the primary protection fail to clear it, does the backup scheme trip all the breakers downstream or only the breaker where fault is located?
A simple diagram on the back-up protection circuit would be helpful.
