Disable One of Vibration Probe Sensor

We are operating gas turbine with one of the X bearing provide false reading (from 1 of 4 bearing).

Due to limited time to check, we plan to disable the false reading Vibration.

Currently we use AND logic for tripping the unit (X and Y above the limit).

We think that if disabled one then we rely only to Y Vibration reading on that bearing.

Is there any other consideration that should we think?

Note: I did not check the permissive for gas turbine yet related with this plan.

Please your feedback

Dear Sati;

We did it several times. We had already disabled vibration probes, LP and HP speed sensors, temperatures thermocouples (not all at same time). Each time the main reason was "Management prefers take a risk than Production Loss."

Trip logic still same and not touched. At the time when the X LP speed sensor was disabled, we lost signal from the Y sensor then machine tripped. This shutdown was an opportunity to replace both X and Y sensors.

Note: Management take a chance with the turbocompressors but never with the power station (High risk of Blackout).
