Is there a way to test/simulate PID control parameters before downloading it into Experion DCS controllers?? I need to test the response of the process to different control algorithms.
The Experion PID parameters are tunable online and can be uploaded to Project to save them.
I would start with the standard PID block and equation B (proportional and integral on error and derivative on changes in PV). Gain options are linear, gap, non-linear or external. Linear gain is the most common, choose external (gain input pinned to 1.0 constant) if you might implement adaptive gain in the future.
