Experion PKS R430 PID Execution

I know that Foxboro PIDA blocks contain an option known as "Sample Controller Option" which allows the period of the block to be dependent upon an update in the measured parameter (i.e. manual entry data or an infrequent measurement in my case).

The block will then execute and hold until the next measurement comes through OR will execute based on a defined sample time.

My main question is how do I replicate this in Experion PKS with their PIDFF block? I've talked with my mentor who has done something similar in TPS, but did not know how to implement it in Experion PKS and unfortunately I'm unfamiliar with the TPS system myself.

I experimented with using some mode switching which worked, but I want to know if there is a more robust way that doesn't involve this and allows the block to remain in Auto/Cascade.

My other idea was to incorporate a soft sensor into the measurement to ensure it was continuous, but it just seems like a perfect candidate for wind up.
