Operator Work Station
Has anyone installed a Building Automation System without an Operator Work Station? What are the Pros and Cons?
By JCI_Okinawa on 2 October, 2017 - 8:40 am

So our customer is asking if we can build a HVAC DDC system that does not require a operator work station. Reason being is that there is no available space or room to install one. Customer believes that a laptop PC should be enough, but the laptop will not be connected to the system at all times.

I'm sure it's possible, but I predict issues coming up in the future. Has anyone installed a system without a OWS?

Yes, an embedded system somewhere in the background without display.
(so called server)
Customer may use any PC or mobile device for interaction.

Thank you for the reply. When you say embedded system, are you referring to a Web Server? Apologies, I'm still learning this stuff. So it is possible to build a system that doesn't require all the PC hardware like a desktop PC and a separate tower for the server?
