One possibility is VMWare. It's a PC emulator that runs on Linux (among other things). Install and run Linux on your box, install and run VMWare on Linux, install and run DOS under VMWare, install and run Step5/Step7 on DOS.

Our experience has been pretty good. (We ran a copy of Windows in VMWare on Linux, and were successful at talking Modbus to PLCs via a serial port.)

Your milage may vary.

SuSE Linux contains an application for programming Step5 PLCs. Don't know about Step7. You can take a look at ftp.suse.com/pub for more information.

I´ve seem the RK512 that works for both S5 and S7. But it is very simple and only can read the DB´s.
