Making an HMI with borland delphi
Delphi has been used in some interesting engineering stuff! On 26-Sep-2004 Kristofer Skaug wrote: "You want mission critical? Consider the infrastructure for the Rosetta comet chaser, that will need to stay operational until 2014-2015." That is in the news a lot today (10-Nov-2014)...

Power Meter Destroys Modbus RTU Bus Communication?
> By the way,, does it exist any utility to check the serial interface of the Pm75? I'm thinking of a pc interface and > software where you could pass a arbitrary request to the pm750 and inspect the response (if any). There is a free open source Modbus example here that should work on a...

RSLinx issue in VMWare WIn 7 32 bit VM
Years ago I had trouble with VMWare and a Keyspan USB to serial device. I switched over to a Gearmo 4-port device (mentioned as #4 here: www.ctrlterm.com/related.htm) and that works well for me.

Lightning Sensor
This is an interesting message thread and somewhat related to one 14-year client that makes (and maintains) tornado warning sirens (for cities, counties, and nuclear power plants). As you mentioned Lynn the Internet is not considered a reliable method of communication. What we might need...

Project ideas for getting into automation?
There are simple tools (free and open source) and code for C and Pascal (Python hopefully soon) on this new page: http://ctrlpascal.com/picoscope.htm If you are an experienced programmer then this probably doesn't apply to you. But if you or someone you know is just starting out, maybe these...

Modbus via microcontroller
I'd suggest you first try an easy way to use a PC: http://www.ctrlterm.com/custom.htm Once the PC works it should be simple to get an Arduino working. Best regards, Paul www.TurboControl.com

Android tablet for HMI?
Gary, I've got a powered USB 4-port hub connected to my Nexus 7. I would think such a device should work for you.

>> Out of curiosity, why do you avoid using Android? Android (and iOS) is *much* more complicated to program for than Windows or Linux. It is OK for a full time programmer, but it is a bit much for someone who tries to keep doing a lot of other engineering tasks. This page shows how simple...

I think you've come to the right place! :) I've worked in a few different fields (doing software using the same tools for 29 years), but this forum has been the best place to hang out (and learn). www.CtrlTerm.com www.TurboControl.com - see educational monitoring project
