Emerson Ovation vs GE Mark VIe
I’ll throw in my $0.02, mostly to air personal grievances more than actual useful information I’ve mostly dealt with GE, Siemens, and Emerson OEMs, but I’ve been to ~100 plants and played with just about every combination out there. With maybe one exception, the hardware and software...

Info about Primary Frequency Regulation - GE Gas Turbine
When you say “model” do you mean the mathematical model? https://www.nerc.com/comm/PC_Reliability_Guidelines_DL/Reliability_Guideline-Application_Guide_for_Turbine-Governor_Modeling.pdf#page9

Load sharing for solar PV and synchronous generators
For the wind farms and solar farms in operation today, there is no good answer for “how.” There are many, many “ok” answers. 10-15 years ago, regulation of renewables and especially inverter based resources was... not great. But penetration of IBRs was almost nothing and they contributed very...

Library block copy
You can just copy/paste/instance/ download if you have the passwords. Just remember you run the risk of voiding warranties and/or ruining the software.

I am facing an issue to get that ControlST Toolbox fixed on my laptop ( version 04.07.03C) TO open & visualize .dcb & .trn file of EX2000.
For what it’s worth, virtual machines are handy and if you’re working with GE software, you should have one for Win7 minimum, and probably one for XP... However... comparability mode is your friend and will (probably) fix the access exception errors. If you get a “Operating System not Recognized...

GE Frame 7 Turbine VIGV issue
All of this is off topic... but without even a basic understanding of the OPs setup... I put in more time than I like to think about handling PAC cases when I worked at GE O&G. I think that’s one reason I’ve been hanging out here more often the last few years. It’s almost nostalgic. Working...

Frequent battery failure on G60 protection relay
Have you done anything to trouble shoot the issue? Are you getting the "Battery Fail. Pull Tab/Replace" alarm? Or something else? The battery should last 5-6 years in a G60 in service and 3-4 years sitting on a shelf not in use. The battery is *not* just used "for clock issues." It is used to...

GE Mark VIe DRAM failed code
They’re not in business anymore. At least not the Louisville Return and Repair center that I believe would have handled this. The Salem Failure Lab is also no more. And as much as I hated dealing with them in the past, the new dashboard makes me miss it. As far as the issue at hand, it’s a...

STANDARD DROOP/SPEED CONTROL compared to other LOAD/SPEED CONTROL
Another great explanation. In case the concept isn't already confusing enough, units can (and often are) be subject to multiple layers of droop speed control that may or may not be coordinated well based on regional grid requirements, grid code, and operational requirements. There's AGC, the...

STANDARD DROOP/SPEED CONTROL compared to other LOAD/SPEED CONTROL
I don’t have much to add as the explanations on this and other threads are literally better than the GE documents, but I may be able to clear this up. Some OEMs label droop speed control “frequency response.” It’s exactly the same thing. But you can dig through their documentation, their HMIs...

What makes a generator increase load
How are you coding the simulation? The most appropriate approach (and advice related to it) will depend on how you’re trying to model load flow. Using something like Matlab or (shudder) Python to solve the differential equations is incredibly laborious if you want your models close to reality...

Mark VIe New Software Download to Gas Turbine
This is important. I also take a separate archive of the .tcw and put it somewhere it can't be corrupted, lost, or overwritten. The “right” answer is that you, the customer, should not be doing this. Replacing a device in an existing .tcw is more than a copy/paste, the most thorough OEM...

9FA gas turbine
Is this a new control system commissioning? Or an older installation that’s having new problems? Never mind the permissives on the HMI screen, go into the Workstation, open the MKVIe SW in Toolbox, and look at the parameters writing to the L25P point. Make sure those values make sense. After...

Incident/Explosion in Power plant
One of the engineers that sustained burns has passed away. I think it’s going to be a while until the RCA is complete. Given the location of the fire... lube oil leak or a gas leak are both possibilities.
