I am newbie in PLC. I want to know how to program AB Basic Module 1771-DB to communicate this PLC using Modbus Protocol using RS422 Port. Does anyone have a sample program to do that?

It might be possible for a newbie to program it to deal with modbus ascii commands but I don't think even an experienced guy could make it effectively deal with rtu, certainly not at any speed.

Buy a prosoft module that is already preprogrammed with the modbus protocol.

 

You can save yourself a lot of headaches by using a module that is already programmed to talk Modbus. Take a look at our Omnii-Comm products (http://www.miille.com/PCds.htm) We have both slot mounted and standalone modules.
