1783-ETAP Module Functionality in Ring Network

I am using 1783-ETAP for making a ring topology for Rockwell PLC. Device port of ETAP module is connected to separate switch for communication with third party. If the Ethernet switch connected to the ETAP module fails because of looping in the network, will it lead to failure of the Ring network of Rockwell PLC leading to loss of I/O control?
