I need to upload the program from a Siemens S7-300, I don't know which cable to use...

I have Step 7 lite V2.0 (Haven't installed the software yet, hopefully it's self explanatory!)

I am experienced only with AB!

I use an USB to Com port adapter as my laptop has no Com port, however, if need be I can drag a desktop PC out to the machine.

For modification in your program you have to have PC adapter cable (PC/MPI) cable. Configure this communication cable in interface option of Simatic Manager.

 

You need a MPI adapter. One can be found here:

you need a USB-MPI adapter for S7-200 / 300/400 PLC, MPI / Profibus DP programming cable
