First off let me introduce myself as a new member of this forum and no I am not an Instrumentation or a Process Engineer. I am a Mechanical Engineer with a little bit of info about communication protocols and programming.
The question I want to ask is this: Suppose I have a mix of instruments, some with RS485 using Modbus, some with RS485 using Profilbus and some giving output as 4-20 mA. I want to interface all these feed to a PC, such that I not only record the analog signals, but also have two communication with the RS485 machines. Any idea how this can be done?
