AB Project - Out of Round Measurement

I have been asked to look at making a machine that measures the "out-of-round" on a component (Crankshaft Bearing Journal). Measurement is two revolutions with an LVDT contacting the part while an encoder feeds back the radial position. Revs will be slow. The largest reading must be selected and the crank orientated with that area at TDC. I am perplexed how to log and select the data thru an SLC 500. I don't normally work with AB but customer has specified. Will sample reading every 2-3 degrees. I am not interested in any reading but the highest (it's angular position and amplitude (measurement)). Any suggestions.

Surely you just put the first readings into registers, one for position and one for height. After that move the readings into the register if the current height is greater than the one in the register.
