Does anyone know of an OPC Server that can communicate with an Allen-Bradley SLC-150?

For less than $300 US you can upgrade that SLC150 to a Micrologix 1200, and you'll have a much easier time finding OPC servers.

Try KEPware at "http://www.kepware.com":http://http://www.kepware.com .

Even if they do not offer it on their website give them a call. They are very responsive and may offer an alternative solution.

The SLC-100 and -150 never had a peer-to-peer network or a computer-based HMI (only the old TCAT timer-counter adjustment terminal), so the only software that ever connected to it was the ladder editors.

You will not find an OPC server to this controller.

It's probably far less expensive and troublesome to upgrade this to a modern MicroLogix controller for which DF1 OPC servers are plentiful. (Rockwell
Software, KEPware, Software Toolbox).

This is a common misconception - who out there owning safety shoes really believes you can swap out a 10 year old PLC in active production for "less than $300 US"? The "Engineering Drawings" and "meetings" and required "man-hours" alone will cost your company several thousandm L-Soft list dollars.

What about the time to rewrite the ladder logic and test/validate it back in production? You'll at least need to buy RSLogix500 and a few other things.

What about panel changes and rewiring? Can this be done at 3am without affecting production? (Do you want to go in at 3am for a few days or weeks to do this?)

What if management insists the change be done "in parallel" (ie: if the new unit affects production, the turn of a rotary switch re-enables the old).

Anyone out there have a good ball-park figure for the average cost to "convert" one PLC rack to a very different one? I'd suspect $100-250 per
POINT is a reasonable cost if you include the engineering and production affects.

Just my experience after 10 years of oil-n-gas related field work in South East Asia.
