We (Oil & Gas company) have had great success creating an application to
present current and historical data on our intranet. Currently trends are
displayed in an ActiveX that requires a connection to the historian. It
takes too long (7 seconds - people are impatient) for the ActiveX.

We would like instead to generate GIF files on a periodic basis (hourly for
2 days of 15 minute values and daily for 90 days of daily values). Does
anyone know of a program that can be "driven" from VB and generate GIF, TIF
or JPEG files? File size should be about 50K. (We have had some initial
success using Golden Software's Grapher. Unfortunately to get the
resolution we would like file size will be too large. We're working this
issue.)

Checkout Teechart from Teemach. Their website is "www.teemach.com". You can
save charts as .bmp, .wmf, .jpg, and .emf. You can also download a fully
functional trial version of this control from "www.componentsource.com" or
"www.vbxtras.com".
